Adelsons donate another $5m. to Gingrich

Dr. Miriam Adelson, the wife of hotel and casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson, will give $5 million dollars to Newt Gingrich’s campaign for the nomination of the Republican party, media reported on Tuesday.

The gift brings the total amount of donations from the wealthy Jewish-American couple to the “super PAC” of would-be Republican presidential nominee in recent weeks to $10 million dollars.

The Adelsons are friends of the former speaker of the house and have helped bankroll his political campaigns in the past.

Last month Adelson addressed a group of Jewish young adults visiting Israel on Taglit-Birthright, supporting Gingrich for arguing that Palestinians are an “invented” people in an interview on Jewish TV.
