One of the regular weekly features I write for Ami Magazine is a “News and Analysis” piece. Although I don’t usually post those offerings here on Cross-Currents (and even though Marvin Schick posted a fine piece on the subject here earlier this week), I thought I’d share my own take on the New York Jewish Week’s “expose” of Shomrim here as well.
According to the New York Jewish Week, “there are those both within the Orthodox community and law enforcement who are concerned that, for all their good intentions,” officials of the Brooklyn South Shomrim—the local Orthodox volunteer neighborhood community watch group that covers Borough Park—“are at times too independent.”
