IDF and police forces were searching Thursday for an elite soldier who went missing during a training exercise in southern Israel late Wednesday night. The soldier, from one of the IDF’s most-elite units, began the solo navigation exercise in the Haruvit Forest in the Lachish Region late Wednesday night and was supposed to complete it by Thursday morning. The soldier was carrying an electronic transmitter which apparently stopped working either due to a technical malfunction or because someone had disconnected it.
