Gossip Girl, the hit teen drama about the “scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite” doesn’t have many Jewish characters, which may explain why its Monday evening Yom Kippur episode dubbed “The fasting and the furious” was so fashionably late.
Entertainment Weekly decided to spoof the episode promo, calling Nate’s new older love interest – played by the sizzling Elizabeth Hurley – a “Shiksa”, and showing the show’s only actual Jewish character, Cyrus, played by Wallace Shawn of inconceivable “Princess Bride” fame, blowing the shofar.
Perhaps the show’s self-indulgent characters could use a day of atonement, though the likelihood of Blair Waldorf doing Teshuva is shaky at best.
