Alfajores from Argentina, pasta from Italy and Bamba (Israeli peanut snack) from Israel – the World Bnei Akiva Youth Movement decided that this year they would fulfill the Purim mitzvah of mishloach manot (gift baskets) on an international scale.
Members of the movement who are scattered throughout the globe took a trip to their local post offices this week and sent out mishloach manot that best reflects their country.
Rome’s Bnei Akiva members sent their package to Montreal, Canada; the Canadians sent their mishloach to Auckland, New Zealand and the Argentineans sent their package to Israel.
The trans-Atlantic packages were sent via airmail and are all set to reach their destination by Thursday – Purim itself.
