This reproduction is of a Delft faience 18th Century plate. The Hebrew inscription on this plate is Mazel Tov meaning good luck. The original was probably given as a congratulatory gift on the occasion of a marriage. Today it can be given for any joyous occasion. The Museum’s Mazel Tov plate is porcelain with hand-applied decals. It is dishwasher safe, but we prefer hand-washing.From The Metroplitan Museum of Art.
